El Jard\u00edn Bot\u00e1nico de Medell\u00edn est\u00e1 en pleno coraz\u00f3n de la ciudad, cerca de la Universidad de Antioquia, uno de los barrios con mayor densidad intelectual de Colombia. La zona universitaria incluye el Parque Explora (un museo de ciencia y acuario), Ruta N, el centro de innovaci\u00f3n y tecnolog\u00eda de la ciudad, y el Parque de los Deseos, todos a distancia caminable. El Jard\u00edn Bot\u00e1nico ocupa 14 hect\u00e1reas en el centro de toda esta actividad y funciona como algo m\u00e1s espec\u00edfico que un parque: es un museo vivo dedicado a la conservaci\u00f3n y el estudio de la biodiversidad colombiana, con m\u00e1s de 1.000 especies de plantas, incluida una de las colecciones de orqu\u00eddeas m\u00e1s importantes de Suram\u00e9rica.<\/span><\/p>\n

Colombia es el pa\u00eds con m\u00e1s biodiversidad del mundo por kil\u00f3metro cuadrado, y el Jard\u00edn Bot\u00e1nico es una declaraci\u00f3n deliberada de esa identidad puesta en la mitad de la zona m\u00e1s p\u00fablica de la ciudad. El Metrocable<\/span><\/h2>\n

El Metrocable es una de las intervenciones urbanas m\u00e1s comentadas de Medell\u00edn. Inaugurado a mediados de los a\u00f1os 2000 como parte del programa m\u00e1s amplio de urbanismo social de la ciudad, el sistema de telef\u00e9rico se construy\u00f3 para conectar las comunas de las empinadas laderas oriental y occidental con la red del metro abajo. Antes del telef\u00e9rico, los habitantes de barrios como Santo Domingo ten\u00edan que hacer un trayecto de una hora a pie o en bus ladera abajo para llegar al centro de la ciudad. El telef\u00e9rico lo redujo a minutos.<\/span><\/p>\n

La L\u00ednea K va desde la estaci\u00f3n Acevedo subiendo por las comunas hasta Santo Domingo, con una vista a\u00e9rea continua de las viviendas de ladera de Medell\u00edn: el urbanismo denso y colorido de una ciudad que creci\u00f3 en vertical por sus pendientes. La L\u00ednea L sigue desde Santo Domingo hacia la monta\u00f1a hasta la estaci\u00f3n Arv\u00ed, dejando atr\u00e1s la cuadr\u00edcula urbana y entrando al bosque en minutos. El recorrido es una transici\u00f3n entre dos Medellines completamente distintas, visible en tiempo real desde la cabina del telef\u00e9rico. Parque Arv\u00ed: 16.000 hect\u00e1reas de bosque protegido encima de la ciudad<\/span><\/h2>\n

El Parque Arv\u00ed cubre m\u00e1s de 16.000 hect\u00e1reas de bosque protegido y reserva ecol\u00f3gica en las laderas orientales de los Andes encima de la ciudad, y abarca varios municipios, entre ellos Medell\u00edn, Envigado, Bello y Guarne. El parque se estableci\u00f3 formalmente a comienzos de la d\u00e9cada de 2010 como una colaboraci\u00f3n entre las principales instituciones de la ciudad, EPM, el Metro de Medell\u00edn y Comfenalco, entre otras, con el objetivo espec\u00edfico de preservar el bosque de niebla que es la principal cuenca de Medell\u00edn. El bosque aqu\u00ed captura la lluvia, alimenta los r\u00edos que surten a la ciudad y mantiene un corredor de biodiversidad para cientos de especies de aves y flora andina que ya no existen en el valle urbanizado de abajo.<\/span><\/p>\n

La relaci\u00f3n entre el bosque de Arv\u00ed y el suministro de agua de Medell\u00edn es un espejo de la relaci\u00f3n entre la Reserva de Chingaza y Bogot\u00e1, que se cubre en el Tour de Caminata en Chingaza<\/span><\/a> <\/strong>\u2014 donde el ecosistema de p\u00e1ramo a 3.100 metros produce aproximadamente entre el 70 y el 80 por ciento del agua potable de la capital.
