Artificial intelligence, intuitive booking systems, and automated communications to enhance efficiency in hotel and operator services are among the resources implemented by Cielo Travel.

Colombia continues to strengthen its position as an attractive destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) in the tourism sector. The latest initiative comes from Cielo Travel, a company based in Bogotá and backed by international capital from the United States and Europe, which projects a total investment between USD 3 and 5 million aimed at developing technological solutions and modernizing boutique accommodations in the country.

Founded at the end of 2024, Cielo Travel began operations with a strategic focus on the digital transformation of tourism services. Its priorities include the implementation of artificial intelligence, multi-currency booking systems, automated communications, and the development of specialized software for hotels and operators.

This investment adds to the dynamism of the sector. According to official figures, in 2024 Colombia received more than USD 1.814 billion in FDI in the commerce, restaurant, and hotel segment—a growth driven by the interest of technology and high value-added companies such as Cielo Travel.

“We decided to bet on Colombia because, after visiting around 40 countries, we identified enormous potential to elevate the local tourism offering through world-class technology and premium experiences,” said Christopher Leamon, CEO of Cielo Travel.

“The arrival of Cielo Travel confirms the confidence of international talent and capital in Colombia, the country of beauty, as a sustainable luxury destination. These types of investments help diversify the offer, raise sector standards, and promote a more competitive tourism industry,” emphasized Carmen Caballero, president of ProColombia.

From Bogotá, the company has developed, in less than a year, a digital network with more than 3.4 million monthly impacts and over 500,000 segmented followers, in addition to a specialized tourism marketing agency, CRM systems, and automated service tools.

The expansion plan includes investments in boutique accommodations to adapt them to international standards, with impact in key destinations such as the Coffee Region, the Caribbean Coast, and emerging regions in the country’s interior. This strategy not only seeks to improve quality and competitiveness but also to generate formal employment and strengthen tourism as a driver of regional development.

The case of Cielo Travel is part of a growing trend of investment in tourism innovation, whose impact is evident in the expansion of air connectivity, the development of specialized hotel infrastructure, and progress toward a more sustainable tourism model focused on high-value markets.
