Location: Ac. 85 #12‑66, Piso 15, Bogotá, Colombia
You know that feeling when you step into a place and instantly get it? That’s Astoria Rooftop. It’s not trying too hard, but it knows it looks good. From the second the elevator doors open, the vibe shifts. You’re high above Bogotá, with floor-to-ceiling views, slick lighting, good music, and the kind of setup that makes you want to stay for hours. Whether you’re here for the cocktails, the skyline, or to finally have a dinner that feels like a night out, this spot delivers.
Check it out any night of the week—no special event, just a regular evening—and discover why this spot is one of the city’s better-kept secrets. Astoria isn’t just about the view (though it’s incredible). The food has edge, the drinks are top, and the energy is exactly what you want when you’re not ready for the party to end but not into chaos either.
Here’s everything you need to know before booking a table—what to eat, what to drink, and how to make the most of your night above the city.
Menu Highlights: New York Edge, Bogotá Heart
Astoria is built on the concept of New York-inspired haute cuisine adapted to the ingredients, textures, and rhythms of Bogotá. You’ll see American grill influences, seafood, meat-forward dishes, and touches of local produce. The kitchen clearly wants to impress. Portions, presentation, and flavor ambition align to make each dish more than filler—most nights, they aim for conversation starters.
Standouts often mentioned in press include magret de pato con miel de pimientas, salmón con cítricos, filete de cerdo BBQ, tentáculos de pulpo con risotto negro. That gives you a sense: a menu with range (meat, fish, grill, fusion) but centered on dishes people talk about. It’s not casual tapas only; you can plan a full, satisfying meal.
Appetizers: The Doorway to Flavor
Our evening began with a few carefully chosen appetizers—each one doing heavy lifting in its own right. These are plates designed to stir curiosity, not just fill space.
- Bruschettas con burrata y tomate confitado – A crisp base with creamy cheese and concentrated tomato sweetness. Elegant and safe.
- Tartar de salmón con cítricos – Clean cuts, a hint of lime, small bursts of surprise from herbs or pickled bits. This one balanced itself well.
- Pulpo a la parrilla – Tender tentacles with charred edges, sitting on sauces that lean smoky, acidic, with complementary vegetables or purée. We sampled a version with risotto negro, dark and bold. The contrast between the sea notes and creamy rice was interesting—though in one bite we wished for a little more brightness to cut the depth.
One thing to note: on busy nights, the kitchen may not carry every appetizer.
Main Dishes: Big Plates, High Stakes
Astoria’s bigger dishes are something to remember.
- Magret de pato con miel de pimientas: A standout on the menu and easily one of the most talked-about dishes. Cooked to a tender medium-rare, the duck arrives with a glossy honey-pepper glaze that hits the balance between sweetness and spice. The skin crisps beautifully, and the richness of the meat carries through. On some plates, the honey may lean slightly strong, but asking for a lighter touch can bring the pepper forward and let the duck shine more clearly.
- Filete de cerdo BBQ: Grill-forward and full of flavor, this pork fillet is built around bold char and a thick layer of barbecue sauce. The meat itself is hearty and juicy, ideal for those craving something savory and substantial. At times, the sauce can be a little heavy-handed, but when applied with balance, it elevates the smoky depth of the dish rather than overpowering it.
- Salmón con cítricos: A clean, well-executed option for those looking for something lighter. The citrus brings brightness to every bite, cutting through the richness of the salmon without overwhelming it. Vegetables on the side—typically seasonal and simply prepared—round out the plate, keeping the profile fresh and well-composed.
- Tentáculos de pulpo con risotto negro: One of the most visually striking plates on the menu. The grilled octopus has just the right texture—charred at the edges, tender through the center—paired with a dramatic squid-ink risotto. The rice is creamy and deeply savory, a welcome contrast to the smokiness of the seafood. It’s a dish that depends on precision and timing, so it shows best when the kitchen isn’t stretched too thin.
Desserts: Just Sweet Enough
Astoria doesn’t try to show off at dessert. They offer a concise, refined set of sweets to round out your meal without fighting for attention.
- Cheesecake de maracuyá – Smooth, slightly tangy. A good option if you want dessert without going heavy.
- Tarta de chocolate con frutas rojas – Dark chocolate, tart berry sauce. Rich but balanced.
These are exactly what you want after a bold dinner: a sweet note, a palate rest, nothing too fussy. We didn’t see extravagant molecular desserts, but we appreciate that restraint.
Drinks & Cocktails: Where Creativity Takes Flight
Astoria Rooftop’s cocktail menu leans confidently into coctelería de autor, with a focus on presentation, layered flavors, and thoughtful use of spirits. Each cocktail appears to be crafted with intention—garnishes, textures, and even smoke are part of the experience.
Notable offerings include:
- Negroni de autor – A creative adaptation of the classic, with amplified botanicals and a balanced bitterness.
- Premium Gin & Tonic – Made with local herbs and citrus peels, this version stands out for its clean structure and elevated visual presentation.
- Passionfruit Martini – A tropical, foam-topped cocktail that brings acidity, sweetness, and vodka into harmony.
- Smoked Old Fashioned – Infused with subtle smoke from local wood chips, this take avoids theatrics and keeps the spirit forward.
- Crisp Sauvignon Blanc – Available by the glass or bottle, a reliable pairing with seafood and lighter entrées.
Overall, the drinks here don’t just accompany the view—they match it. Whether staying for dinner or stopping by for a round at golden hour, the cocktail list holds its own as a destination-worthy feature.
Small Plates and Grazing Options: Perfect for the Mellow Side of Night
Not every night must be about a full dinner. Astoria also shines in its lineup of shareable bites and social plates—ideal when you’re sipping, talking, or slowly transitioning from day to night.
Certainly — here’s a revised version of that appetizers section using objective descriptions and a polished, trustworthy tone without personal pronouns, while maintaining vivid detail and a people-first voice:
Small Plates: Great Conversation Starters
Astoria’s appetizer selection favors shareable bites with bold flavors and thoughtful presentation—ideal for pairing with cocktails or setting the tone for a longer meal. Each dish is designed to be passed easily, shared casually, and enjoyed without taking attention away from the view or conversation.
Highlights include:
- Mini sliders – Topped seasonally and served on soft buns, these are juicy, well-seasoned, and playful in spirit.
- Chicken skewers (satay-style) – Char-grilled with a sweet-savory glaze, offering crispy edges and tender centers.
- Shrimp tempura bites – Coated in a delicate, crunchy batter and served with a spicy mayo that adds just enough heat.
- Truffle fries with aioli – Comforting yet elevated, arriving hot, crisp, and generously aromatic with truffle oil.
Atmosphere: When the City Is Part of the Meal
Astoria is one of Bogotá’s rooftops that genuinely feels like “sky dining.” Its height gives panoramic views; the city sprawls under you. ([Tikipal][3])
The design is modern and flexible: glass roofs that shift color, ambient lighting that transitions from warm to moody, terraces, sections indoors and out. Music is carefully curated—jazz, blues, funk, house touches, but rarely overwhelming. You can talk, laugh, hear each other.
The space has multiple moods: brunch, lunch, sunset, dinner, late-night rooftop mode. On event nights, their ambiance can shift—performers, DJs, elevated production. We were there on a regular night, which let us appreciate shapes, angles, details: the red-toned ceilings as night deepened, the way the lights on the cityscape played off glass, the staff silhouettes.
Service is stylish. We felt cared for: menus explained, drinks suggested, water refills, checking in at logical intervals. However, several guest reviews mention missteps: long waits, reservation mismanagement, cold delivery. These are real risks on crowded nights. But on nights when the rhythm holds, Astoria feels like a thoughtfully composed experience.
Where Astoria Can Sometimes Miss the Mark
- Consistency: The most common complaint from guests is when the restaurant is full, things slip. Cold dishes, late plates, and staffing stretched thin. The plating might not look as good, either.
- Not many vegetarian & plant-based offerings: The menu leans heavily on meat and seafood. More creative options for non-meat eaters would widen appeal.
- Noise: Occasionally, the music edges too loud.
