The Colombian company was created by Christopher Leamon, who recently also invested in a local startup dedicated to ecotourism..
The Colombian company Cielo Travel, which bases its operation on a platform of marketing, technology, and experiences, aims to connect brands in the tourism sector with travelers, specifically in the luxury segment.
Its founder and CEO, the American Christopher Leamon, who has lived in Colombia since 2023, invested $500,000 to establish the network, which now reaches more than 3.4 million people per month, with its own community of over 500,000 followers.
According to the company, it achieves an engagement rate of 18.35%. “Clients will not only increase their visibility, but will also experience real growth in their revenue,” the company says.
Operating under a B2B model, the company highlights four business lines. One of these focuses on technological development for the hotel industry. In this regard, it announces that it will soon launch a digital solution for hotels, restaurants, and tour operators that includes 24/7 AI chatbots for customer service in multiple languages, customizable reservation software that facilitates payments in multiple currencies and optimizes the user experience, and CRM and automation tools to improve communication with guests, offer automatic upgrades, send personalized recommendations, and much more.
It is also developing a transactional platform for international travelers, which will allow the end customer (B2C) to book flights, accommodation, activities, transport, and experiences with confidence and support, all in their own language and with international quality standards.
Plans and Motivations
In the coming years, Cielo Travel plans to invest between $3 and $5 million to scale its operation in two main areas.
On one hand, it will continue strengthening its technological solutions—such as booking platforms, itinerary automation, and AI-powered customer service systems—to optimize the experience for both travelers and service providers.
On the other hand, it aims to intervene in and improve boutique properties in strategic destinations across the country. The goal is to bring these spaces up to international standards, offering unique, authentic hospitality experiences with world-class service.
These investments will include improvements in infrastructure, staff training, and the design and development of integrated experiences.
As part of its value proposition, the company highlights its sustainable approach, with a positive impact not only environmentally, but also socially and economically, through responsible tourism.
In fact, Leamon recently invested in LiveHappy, a Colombian startup focused on ecotourism, conservation, and community development. LiveHappy promotes activities in nature reserves, connects travelers with sustainable experiences, and works with local communities on reforestation projects, environmental restoration, and youth training in tourism skills.
“The decision to invest in Colombia comes from a combination of personal experience and strategic analysis. From my first visit as a tourist, I could see that Colombia has it all: natural beauty, cultural diversity, incredible people, and immense tourism potential,” commented the entrepreneur.
He added that, nevertheless, “I also noticed many missed opportunities in infrastructure, service, and international positioning. Colombia also offers very attractive conditions for tourism development, including government incentives, improvements in air connectivity, and an environment increasingly open to foreign investment. In addition, there’s growing interest from other investors—national and international—who see the country as an emerging destination with an expanding tourism market.”
