Bogotá is a vibrant, high-altitude capital full of culture, architecture, and culinary experiences—but it can also be overwhelming if you choose the wrong hotel. For senior travelers, the key to enjoying Bogotá is finding a place that strikes a balance between calmness, convenience, and comfort, all while offering excellent service.
These are Bogotá’s best senior-friendly hotels—safe, restful, and ready to make your stay as smooth as possible.
What Makes a Hotel Senior-Friendly in Bogotá
It’s not just about having a nice lobby or a high rating. When we talk about senior-friendly hotels, we mean places that truly understand and support older guests.
Here’s what we look for:
- Elevators and step-free access throughout the property
- Quiet rooms with reliable climate control and soundproofing
On-site dining so you don’t need to go out when you’re tired or adjusting to the altitude - Helpful, English-speaking staff who know how to handle special requests or medical situations
- Safe, flat, walkable neighborhoods, with good lighting and easy access to restaurants or shops
Bogotá sits at over 8,600 feet (2,640 meters) above sea level. Even active travelers can feel the effects, especially in the first few days. Choosing a hotel where you can rest, recover, and enjoy your time at your own pace is essential.
Hotels in the Best Area to Stay: Parque 93
If you only remember one recommendation from us, make it this: stay near Parque 93. It’s flat, green, and full of upscale restaurants and cafés that open early and close early—no noisy party scene, no difficult hills, and no safety concerns during daylight hours.
GHL Collection 93
This boutique hotel is tucked just off the main park, making it both central and quiet. The rooms are spacious and clean, there’s elevator access to every floor, and the staff are warm and professional. You’re steps away from peaceful walking paths, charming cafés, and calm mornings.
We like GHL Collection 93 for its relaxed energy—ideal if you’re planning a low-key visit or just want to be close to everything without being in the middle of it.
Sofitel Bogotá Victoria Regia
Sofitel blends classic French elegance with Colombian hospitality. The staff here goes above and beyond, offering personalized touches like pillow menus, quiet check-ins, and a true sense of welcome. Rooms are extremely quiet and comfortable, with high-end bedding and blackout curtains.
It’s located just a few blocks from Parque 93 in a very calm area. This is a great choice if you want a truly luxurious experience without the crowds.
Residence Inn by Marriott Bogotá
We love this one for longer stays or travelers who want a little more independence. Every room has a kitchenette, which is ideal if you have dietary needs or simply prefer to eat in. The atmosphere is modern and low-key, with a clientele of professionals and long-term visitors—no loud tour groups.
It’s also close to medical clinics, supermarkets, and other essentials, which adds peace of mind.
Casa Dann Carlton Hotel & Spa
This is one of Bogotá’s most established upscale hotels and a clear favorite for many senior travelers. The Casa Dann Carlton Hotel & Spa is located just north of Parque 93, in a quiet area where diplomats and corporate guests often stay.
Rooms are large and well-lit, with comfortable furniture and traditional decor. The full-service spa, heated indoor pool, and on-site beauty salon are real bonuses if you’re looking to unwind without leaving the building.
We especially appreciate the on-site dining options (there are three restaurants), 24-hour room service, and staff trained to assist guests with mobility or special needs. The elevators are large, the hallways are wide, and everything feels built for guests who want space, peace, and convenience.
Great Options in Other Parts of the City
Hotel Dann Carlton Bogotá
A smaller sister property to Casa Dann, this hotel is located near Calle 100. It offers a more understated stay with all the essentials for comfort: well-sized rooms, friendly staff, a good restaurant, and a calm atmosphere.
We’d recommend this one if you’re visiting family in the area or want a good, safe base in the north of the city. It’s also great for a short rest-and-recover stay before heading to other parts of Colombia.
Hotel Coco
This boutique property near Calle 85 is a standout if you want something stylish without the noise or attitude of trendier hotels. It’s quiet, artfully decorated, and run by a team that truly values service.
Rooms are smaller than chain hotels, but the comfort level is high—great bedding, thick curtains, and excellent noise insulation. The rooftop is peaceful, and the vibe is relaxing throughout. It’s perfect for young-at-heart solo senior travelers or couples who prefer charm and calm over size.
JW Marriott Bogotá (Zona G)
The JW Marriott is an excellent pick for travelers who want luxury and exceptional service without lifting a finger. Located in Zona G, Bogotá’s gourmet dining zone, it offers on-site fine dining, a heated pool, full spa, and one of the most attentive concierge teams in the city.
Rooms are large, elevators are quick, and everything is designed for comfort—from soundproofing to plush bedding. The location is walkable to great restaurants, and the hotel can arrange drivers or medical assistance if needed. We recommend the JW for seniors who want a 5-star experience that’s truly restful.
Hilton Bogotá Corferias
This is the best hotel in the Corferias area—but only stay here if you have a reason to be in this part of town, such as a medical appointment or conference.
The Hilton Corferias offers modern, quiet rooms, excellent dining, and large elevators. Staff are proactive and happy to assist with luggage, transportation, or other needs. It’s not walkable to tourist areas, but it’s a top-tier choice if you’re staying near the convention center or local clinics.
The Orchids Hotel
If you’re coming to Bogotá to visit museums or see colonial architecture, you may want to stay in La Candelaria, the city’s historic heart. While not ideal for every senior traveler due to its cobblestone streets and hills, The Orchids Hotel is a fantastic choice for short cultural visits.
Set in a restored mansion, this boutique hotel offers antique furnishings, fireplaces, and an elegant, quiet environment. It’s just steps from the Gold Museum and Botero Museum.
Important: Some rooms may have stairs or uneven floors, so always call ahead to request an accessible layout. We don’t recommend long stays in La Candelaria for seniors, but for a night or two focused on art and history, The Orchids is a memorable place to stay.
Final Advice for Senior Travelers Booking a Hotel in Bogotá
A few last tips to make your stay smoother:
- Altitude matters. Take your first day slowly, drink water, and rest. Choose a hotel where you can eat in and relax comfortably.
- Choose your area wisely. Parque 93 and Zona G are best for flat walking, good lighting, and easy access to pharmacies, banks, and dining.
- Call before booking. Always confirm your room has elevator access, a quiet location, and any extra features you need.
- Avoid last-minute changes. Bogotá traffic can be unpredictable. Stay near your primary activities to avoid unnecessary travel.
- Ask for airport transfers. All hotels listed here can arrange safe, private pickups, which are more reliable than taxis.
Plan for downtime. Don’t overbook yourself. These hotels are meant to be enjoyed—spend time in the spa, have a long breakfast, and enjoy a slow rhythm.
